ECOT is an online home school. I was a part of it for about a year, but I ended up falling out of it. Just recently I got something in the mail, it was a literary magazine for the school. Keystrokes was the name. I was curious about it, I didn't understand why it was being sent to me since I was no longer part of ECOT. I looked through it and saw that it was sent to me because they had decided to use one of my poems for their magazine. Which is pretty cool I must admit. I just wish a different poem had been chosen. I remember writing this poem literally in five minutes because I was in a rush to turn it in as an assignment. I didn't take it as seriously as I wish I had. Regardless, its still pretty cool to see this. It was nice discovering one of my older poems. I had forgotten about it completely. I sent it as an assignment and I never thought twice about it. Here is the poem, which was written about m father.
To My Dad
You were the one to make me believe in fantasy
Everyday you would help me play games
with the toys you'd bought just for me
You'd create battlegrounds using bowls or plates
And you'd use blankets to make a tent fortress
I remember so clearly how you brought my toys to life
there'd be a villain who captures the damsel in distress
And an army led by a soldier bearing the Hero's Knife
You made pretend voices and an intense war
You taught me everything about imagination
'Cause everyday we'd play games on the floor
I remember every game was a new creation
Somehow you made everything so real
Today I sit and remember how it used to be
And I remember how you made me feel
I know there has to have been a time you loved me
That poem, while lazily written, is personal to me. Its a collection of memories of a time when I thought my father was a hero. I may rewrite this someday, but not now.

''It still scares me of how much I love you'' I said. ''You dont have to be scared'' he said with a smile. He put his head on my shoulders and I gently kissed his forehead. ''I will never leave you'' he said. I smiled. ''You better not leave me'' I joked.
